Question by MoonNite: How effective are witches on peoples lives?
I was wondering if witches can be real. Can they cast spells on people and do you have to be descended from one to be able to cast a spell? I know this sounds kind of weird, but I just want to know.

Read the book “He came to set the captives free” She was a witch and she talks about her life and tells EVERYTHING.

Only if you believe they can. If somebody really believes they can be harmed by a ‘witch’ they could be by power of suggestion. Of course there are Christians who believe witches worship Satan and he has power, but I really doubt if there is anything a witch can do except convince you she has ‘powers’. They are probably like a lot of others, those who practice con games to get people to do what they want by threats, either from this world or the supernatural.

Non effective.
Whiches only have power on those that are stupid enough to think they have some sort of power.

Yes, Witches are real. Yes, we can work magick on people, usually to help. No, you don’t have to be descended from a Witch. Magick isn’t inherited.

Witches are 0% effective and they exist only insofar as there are people who call themselves witches, but they do not possess supernatural abilities or powers, and cannot conjur them through potions or spells, they’re not clairvoyant or anything like it. They’re just people who perform meaningless rituals, just like a compulsive hand-washer who avoids stepping on cracks for fear of breaking his/her mother’s back.
A witches only power comes in their ability to invoke fear in wacky religious people.
If witches were real, and they could perform magic, they wouldn’t need to make excuses for people’s inability to see it. Any magic worth claiming as your own should be observable and clearly unable to be attributed to anything but magic. The simplest explanation to why this is such a problem for witches is that they can’t do what they claim to be able to do. If they have the ability, they should just prove it already and stop making excuses and acting like responding to skepticism as though proving your claim to skeptics is beneath you. That’s just another excuse. The most important, most powerful, and most intelligent people in the world are not above answering to skeptics, so what makes witches so special? It’s the fact that they know they will fail to do anything.
James Randi has had, for over a decade, a standing offer of $1 million for anybody who can prove anything paranormal — anything at all. It’s been sitting there for years waiting for somebody to claim it, yet nobody has even so much as passed a preliminary test. Look it up — it’s called the James Randi One Million-Dollar Paranormal Challenge, offered by the James Randi Educational Foundation (or JREF for short).
If you’re not willing to do something to prove you have the ability to perform magic, and even $1 million is not incentive enough, then you have no magical abilities whatsoever. Period. You are either delusional or pretentious.

I think that it works on belief. When you pray to the devil, he doesn’t have to answer you. They are already in trouble just for calling to him. I think that we all have very much power than we realize. I think that the reality of thought defining our reality , is our nature. Peter walking on the water. He did it for a moment until he doubted. Funny story too..Peter had to be an excellent swimmer if he was a fisherman/ why did he panic so hard about falling into the water?

Witches are real. There are thousands in the US alone. Their magic is real, the only reason no one notices is that they have trained themselves to believe that magic is fictional, therefore any result from magic has some other explanation, and they go off on their tiny little adventures to try to find that explanation.
Witchcraft is not genetic. Witchcraft can be comparative to artestry. One does not have to come from a family of artists to be an artist themselves. One may learn the craft from their family, but that doesn’t mean they’re born artists. The same goes for Witches. One may be born into a family that practices the craft, but doesn’t mean that’s their destiny and cannot avoid it. Practicing Witchcraft is a CHOICE, not a birthright.

Witches are real, it is an ancient art rooted in nature and psychology and people still, and have always, practiced the Craft.
As to how much extent they can exert over others, well, that’s debatable and would also depend. Some Witches believe more in an unseen energy that can be influenced by raising & directing other energy (some even point to quantum physics to explain this but I don’t get it); Some believe the Craft is much more rooted in the natural world, like chanting is neurolinguistic programming, or scents of different incenses and herbs impact the mind, etc.
No one is born with “powers”… the Craft is a skill one must learn. There is no gene that gets carried.
In my experience real practicing Witches don’t even come close to fiction or rumor.

I’m studying Wicca to see the same question. A real person is open to new ideas, so I can say a definite maybe. But as far as I know, no you don’t. In some more esoteric branches people think magick is sometimes through descent, but probably not. Who knows.
A lot of people try to use magick to help them, or to grant their wishes and what not. While I’ve been told that spells you yourself make up are more powerful, there are places on the internet like http://www.spellsofmagic.com or
make a wish: http://www.real-wishes.com.
So you can try practicing witchcraft, and it may just work for you.

When you ask this question, you are looking at Witchcraft (as i know and experience it) the wrong way. The focus is more upon ones self..that is where the changes occur you see, but i do understand what you mean i think.. it just seems slightly back to front to me. There is nothing to stop anyone anywhere from casting spells in my opinion..or indeed from those spells working, should the caster be adept and focused, but casting spells alone ( i have grown to dislike that phrase) does not make you a Witch. Nor does being a relative of another Witch, nor in fact does studying Witchcraft and reading lots of books..(although of course study is to be recommended to a point, as it provides a foundation upon which to build ones practical experiences) I learned to respect the dead and understand the patterns of nature, seen and unseen as a child via people who never mentioned Witchcraft at all, most of it came from my father..he was no Witch. Try then not to look at Witchcraft as such a one dimensional thing. There is much more to it. These opinions are mine alone i might add.
